Project Forges Closer Link With The Friends Of Friendless Churches

At the Annual General Meeting of the Friends, held at St Andrew’s, Woodwalton, Cambs. on Saturday 30th September 2006, Dr John Morgan-Guy, Research Fellow on the AHRC Project, “Imaging the Bible in Wales”, was elected a Trustee and Director of the Friends of Friendless Churches. He succeeds the Very Revd J.Wyn Evans, Dean of St Davids.

The Friends play a vital role in the care and conservation of historic and artistically important churches no longer required as centres for regular worship in England and particularly Wales. Under an agreement with CADW and the Representative Body of the Church in Wales, the Friends act as custodians of such artistically significant churches as St Mark’s, Brithdir, Manordeifi Old Church and St Mary’s, Llanfair Kilgeddin. Further details of Welsh churches in the care of the Friends can be found on their website.
